Happy Feet 2 in 3D is coming soon-- but how excited are we about the sequel to the beloved Happy Feet? Some aspects of the preview and poster for the sequel have us shaking our heads with confusion and doubt. First of all, the use of the adult song, "I'm Bringing Sexy Back", by Justin Timberlake, in the preview for the film, made its viewers a wee bit uncomfortable. There is nothing--and should be nothing--sexy about penguins dancing. People fear the second film will cheapen the first one, which they loved so much.
In addition, the poster for Happy Feet 2 in 3D leaves viewers a bit confused, given that the word "Two" is written in salsa-style bubble letters, putting an entirely different spin on the poster, and, some say, trying to imitate Fox's hit movie, "Rio".
However, to the movie's credit, the cast is certainly recognizable. Singer Pink takes the place of Erik's mother, which was previously taken by the late Brittany Murphy. Robin Williams will continue to play Ramon, and Brad Pitt and Matt Damon plan to be the voice of krill. Sounds like an exciting cast, despite the failed preview and poster.
However, the sequel's story could possibly be entertaining. The penguin Mumble (Elijah Wood)'s son, Erik, (Elizabeth Daily), is embarrassed by the fact that he is unable to dance like his father, so he runs away from home. On his journey, he befriends a flying penguin, The Mighty Sven, who acts as his mentor. In other words, this is a nice underdog story that could prove to be both touching and funny at times. Let's hope for the best!
